Blog admin screens

v0.0.1

The blog adds one entry to the admin sidebar, Blog under Plugins, and nine screens behind it. This page lists each screen's address, the permission it needs, its filters and its actions, then the dashboard widgets and the blog's settings. For the fields of each form, see Blog record fields.

Each screen has a link back to the Blog dashboard. A master sees a Site filter and picks the site when adding a record. A site admin sees only its own site.

Controls every list shares

ControlWhat it does
Cards and Table switchDraws the list as cards or as a table. The table keeps a few actions as icons and moves the rest into an Actions menu. Auto Posting has the table only.
Active and Archived toggleSwitches between live records and archived ones.
Search and filtersNarrow the list. The filter state is kept in the address, so a filtered list can be bookmarked or shared.
Clear filtersResets the filters.
Sort byOrders the list. Posts default to newest first, by the date each post is shown with.
Load More and the page-size pickerAdd the next page of 20, or choose 50, 100 or 150 per page.
Selection and the bulk barArchive the selected records, and on the archived view restore them or delete them forever. Bloggers have no bulk actions.

A list updates itself when another admin changes a record on the same site. On a translated list, one row stands for a whole document, and chips under it open each language.

Filters

ScreenFilters
PostsSearch in title, slug and excerpt; Site (master); Collection; Status with Published, Draft and Scheduled; Featured; Language
CollectionsSearch in name, slug and description; Site; Status with Active and Draft; Language; Featured only
TagsSearch in name, slug and description; Site; Language
BloggersSearch in display name, slug and bio; Site; Can Publish Directly
TeamsSearch in name, slug and description; Site; Status with Active, Inactive and Draft

Auto PostingSearch in name, plugin and description; Site; Active

The Posts and Comments screens accept filters in the address, such as posts_filter_collection_id and comments_filter_post_id. The count on a post's card and the name of a collection use them.

Row actions

ScreenOn live recordsOn archived records
PostsEdit, Versions, Publish, Unpublish, DeleteRestore, Versions, Delete forever
Tags, TeamsEdit, Versions, DeleteRestore, Versions, Delete forever
Collections, BloggersEdit, Versions, DeleteRestore, Delete forever
CommentsEdit, Reply, Approve, Flag, Spam, Pin or Unpin, DeleteRestore, Delete forever
Auto PostingEdit, Versions, Activate, Deactivate, DeleteRestore, Versions Archived, Delete Permanently

Delete archives a record after you confirm. Delete forever removes it and its history, and cannot be undone. Publish and Unpublish are described in Write and publish a post. Comments are not versioned, so they have no Versions action.

On Auto Posting, the page has no form and no add button, and its Edit and Versions buttons are not answered by the page. A configuration is created over the API. See How the blog works.

Blog dashboard

The dashboard fills in its figures after the page paints. An area the account does not hold is not drawn.

PartWhat it shows
Today's PostsPosts for today, compared with yesterday.
Today's ViewsViews today, compared with yesterday.
New CommentsComments from the last seven days, with how many are pending.
Active BloggersThe site's bloggers, with how many joined this month.
EngagementComments divided by views over the last 30 days, compared with the 30 days before.
Section cardsEight cards, one for each of Collections, Blog Posts, Bloggers, Teams, Comments, Auto Posting, Tags and Analytics, each with two figures and a link to its screen.

Quick ActionsCreate New Post, Review Comments, View Analytics and Blog Settings.

The header has the check-and-repair button, described in Set up the blog on a site. Setting up and repairing need extra permissions.

Analytics

The screen counts rows of the post view log, where one view is one reader opening one post. Choose 7 days, 30 days or 90 days. It has no read time or bounce rate, because nothing records a reader leaving.

Views Over TimeOne point a day, with the busiest day.
Top Performing PostsThe five most-read posts of the period.

Five widgets can be added to the main admin dashboard. Each admin sets the size of a widget for themselves, on the card's gear in customize mode or in Settings, Blog, Dashboard widgets.
